Funeral services for William and Howard McCormick, brothers who met a tragic death in an automobile accident east of Hillsboro Thursday afternoon on 34, were held at Acton, Ind., Sunday afternoon.
The two youths, sons of Mr. and Mrs. James McCormick, former Hillsboro residents, were killed when their machine collided with a truck on state road 34, in Coal Branch bridge. Howard, age 17, died a few minutes after the crash while William, age 21, died while being taken to the Culver hospital at Crawfordsville.
The young men were en route to the home of their uncle, Albert Livengood, and were within sight of the Levengood home when they were killed.
For the past four years the McCormick family has been residing at Acton and the burial of the wreck victims took place there. The bodies which were removed to the Crumley undertaking parlors in this city late Thursday were sent to Acton Thursday night following the arrival of the parents.
Clifford C. Crumley, Fountain county coroner who conducted an investigation of the fatal accident, three persons at the inquiry. Those who testified were Frank Youngblood state policeman; William Cronk, a farmer living near the scene of the crash, and Eheophile Netke, the driver of the truck belonging to a Chicago transportation company.
Coroner Crumley in announcing his verdict said that the youths died as a result of an accident, and exonerated the truck driver.
