Henry was born on Nov. 28, 1829 in Good Hope Township of Hocking County, Ohio, to Henry E. Gunder and Elizabeth Francisco. He moved with his parents and siblings to Madison County, Indiana in 1834. He was married to Louisa J. Cotton on Dec 02, 1858 in Madison County. In 1865, Henry and Louisa along with Henry's brother Daniel and family, moved to Vermilion County, Illinois. Henry and Louisa settled in Vance, Illinois where he was a farmer. On Dec. 8, 1866, their first child, Ada Bell Gunder, was born. On Oct. 6, 1968, their second child, Anna "Annie" Gertrude, was born. In 1871, their third child, Alice Almeda, was born. Henry passed away on May 2, 1873. His wife, Louisa, passed away in 1900.
