Julia was the oldest of six children born to Chalmers Walter and Mae L. (Hartman) Wyatt. She married Donald Wayne Young in 1935 and they had two sons: Donald Wyatt and Phillip Douglas.

Lorene Wyatt Young, age 88, formerly of Greenville, passed away May 7, 2002, at Sardis Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte.
Mrs. Young was born Dec. 14,1913, in Cabarrus County, N.C. the daughter of Chalmus Walter and Maie Hartman Wyatt. She attended Cabarrus County Schools and graduated from Rowan General Hospital School of Nursing in Salisbury, N.C., where she began her career as a Registered Nurse, working in the hospital, and also as a private duty nurse. Mrs. Young married Donald Wayne Young July 26, 1935. They lived in Salisbury, N.C., and Greenville during their 47 years of marriage. During her years in Greenville, Mrs. Young became a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Mrs. Young was currently a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Salisbury, N.C., and during her years there was an active member of WELCA of St. John's Lutheran Church. Her primary concerns in this life were her church and her family.
A service to celebrate the life of Lorene Wyatt Young will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 10, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., Salisbury, N.C., with the Rev. Jennifer M. Ginn, the Rev. John Tucker, and the Rev. James Bartos officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Narthex of St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
Survivors include a son, Philip D. Young and his wife Vernelle, of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughters, Cassandra Y. Stilwell and her husband Lee, of Charlotte, N.C., and Michelle Young of Liberty; stepgrandchildren, Donna Ellington of Garner, N.C., and Jeffrey Williams of Monroe, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Tori and Jacquelyn Stilwell and Jared Young; her sister, Cora Lee Lowder, of Mount Pleasant, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Young; her son, Donny Young; her parents; brothers, Hayden Wyatt, Doyt Wyatt and Harry Wyatt; and a sister, Freeda Wyatt Drye.
Harry & Bryant Co. is serving the Young family.
