NOTE:
Springfield Monthly Meeting of Friends minutes record several persons named John Mills. It also lists the marriage of a John Mills to Mary (Ellis). Her tombstone is close to this John's military marker. Is this husband and wife?

"I have the death certificate for John Mills (son of Benjamin Mills & Naomi Lewis). Under "Place of Burial or Removal", it says "Economy". His date of birth was 18 Aug 1833 & date of death was 15 Mar 1914. It lists him as a widower - his spouse was Mary Ellis, so yes, I think the grave of Mary Mills close by is his wife. He would be a cousin to my husbands 3Gr-grandfather."
--------------------
There are no further records for this couple in the Springfield Monthly Meeting of Friends, of Economy, Wayne County, Indiana.
John apparently was not a member of the Friends Meeting at Economy, as he would have been disowned for serving in the military. No such record exists in the Monthly Meeting reports. It is also of interest that his wife was disowned at their marriage but no such record exists for John. This would seem to further support the theory that he was not a member of the church.
