Mrs. Compton was a life long resident of Washington County and was a member of Joseph Chapel Church for many years.
She was united in marriage to Harry Compton on December 23, 1916 at Quaker and five children were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death as did one daughter, Vivian Walton; three sisters, Nellie McClain, Mabel Wood and Callie Halbert; two sons-in-law, Homer Wilkerson and Joe Walton.
Those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are: three daughters, Nelda Wilkerson of Potosi, Pauline (Mrs. Ralph Allen) of Hillsboro and Neva (Mrs. George Ames) of Bridgeton; one son, Donnie Compton and his wife Ima of Lebanon; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at Joseph Chapel with Rev. J. Wesley Thomas officiating. Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of the Britton Bros. (Sparks) Funeral Home of Potosi.
