Homer Enterprise: The subject of this sketch, Mrs. Ann Heselden, who had been in poor health for so long, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Hickman, in Homer on Tuesday evening of last week. The old Mother had suffered long and patiently for several years and was tenderly and devotedly cared for by her faithful daughter, but the infirmities of age were too great to longer overcome.
Ann Weaver was born at Tenterden, West Kent, England, July 30, 1823, and at the time of her death was 81 years, 1 month and 13 days of age. She was married to John Heselden, Feb. 21, 1849. Ten children were born to them, eight of whom (four sons and four daughters) are still living. All but a daughter in Baltimore and a son in Galesburg were here to attend the funeral. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother and a consistent Christian lady. She formerly was a member of Olive Branch church, but after moving to Homer she united with the Presbyterian church. Owing to ill health she was seldom able to attend services.
Funeral services were held at the home Thursday forenoon, conducted by Dr. Gehrett, and were largely attended by old friends of the family, interment took place at the family lot in G. A. R. cemetery.
