Mrs. Simon Brink, nee Gertrude Vanden Brink, died in the early hours on Friday morning, Oct. 1st in the Sheldon Community hospital where she was taken the afternoon before. Several months before she had undergone major surgery.
Mrs. Brink was born Jume 4, 1907, near Hospers and had lived in this vicinity all her life. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 47 years.
On Jan. 17, 1929 she was married to Simon Brink of Hospers and to this union four children were born, Marlene (Mrs. John Alons), Joann, Stanley and Allan. Besides her husband and children she also leaves one grandchild, her aged father. Mr. Art Vanden Brink Sr., of Sheldon, one brother Art Vanden Brink Jr., of Hospers, and three sisters Jeanette (Mrs. Sam Oldenkamp) of Orange City, Grace (Mrs. Case Elshuis) of Primghar, and Anna (Mrs. Carl Osburg) of Lincoln, Nebr.
She was preceded in death by her mother, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, Oct. 4 from the Presbyterian Church with Rev. G. Doctor of Sibley officiating. Pallbearers were all nephews, Sam C. Brink, Wm. Oldenkamp, Clifford Brink, Sander Roos, Edwin Roos , Edwin Boone and Edward Boone. Burial was in the Hospers cemetery.
