Services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Galloway Baptist Church, Springfield. Burial was at Bowers Chapel Cemetery, Urbana, under the direction of Greenlawn East Funeral Home, Springfield.

Maxine E. Miller, 86, Springfield, was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Macks Creek, the daughter of Claude and Ethel (Young) Eldred. She died May 6, 2010.
At age 6, she lost her mother, but was reared in Urbana with her father and loving stepmother Alma (Smith) Eldred.
While working in her father's general store, she was spotted by Lonuel Miller, a local soldier home on leave. Although usually reserved, he called out "Hey, good-looking." They were soon engaged and later married on Oct. 14, 1945.
The Millers moved to Springfield where she worked as a bookkeeper until age 79.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonuel Paul Miller; her parents; a brother, Wade Eldred; two sisters: Wadene (Walker) Reichtmyer and Lucille Adams; and a sister-in-law, Lela Grace Miller.
Survivors include her daughters: Brenda Blackburn and Barbara Boaz, both of Springfield; her grandson David and wife Jennifer Boaz, Lees Summit; adored great-grandsons: Landon and William; her aunt, Irene Eidson; a sister-in-law, Elaine Eldred; lifelong close friend, Nadine Smith; and cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
