Mary Hawkins Shelburne, 92, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg. She was born Sept. 14, 1917 in Mercer County, KY to the late Thomas F. And Lena Davis Hawkins. She retired in 1977 with 29 years of service from Health and Family Dept. For Community Base Services and was a former field representative for the Food Stamp Program. She was a graduate of Rose Hill High School in Mercer County, a member of the Lawrenceburg First Christian Church, former organist for Lawrenceburg First Presbyterian Church, enjoyed showing horses and reading.

Ms. Shelburne is survived by a son, Thomas Eli "Bud" Shelburne of Mt. Vernon, KY; son-in-law, James W. York; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a brother, John Hawkins of Louisville. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Shelburne York; a son, John Lewis Shelburne; a sister, Nora Shouse; and two brothers, Joseph Thomas Hawkins and Lee Van Hawkins.

Memorial service will be 7:00 PM Friday, April 16, 2010 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. A time of visitation with the family will be from 5 – 7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Honorary bearers will be Steven Hawkins, James W. York, Stewart Shouse, Joe Hawkins, Tom and Bill Young. Memorials are suggested to Lawrenceburg First Christian Church, 300 South Main Street, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
