Walter R. Aten
ARENA VALLEY - Walter R. Aten, 92, Arena Valley, died Monday Monday at a Nyssa hospital.
He was born Nov. 29, 1882, in Tecumseh, Neb. He moved from Alexandria, Neb., to Idaho in 1909 and lived in the Franklin community. In 1911 he homesteaded in Arena Valley and since had resided there. He married Verna M. Phillips, Feb. 20, 1918, in Roswell.
He was a member of the school board in Arena Valley for many years. He had been a farmer. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Roswell for 65 years.
Surviving are his wife of Arena Valley; three sons, William and Phillip of Calwell and Wayne of Wilder; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Greenway, Parma, and Mrs. Kathryn Carver, Wilder; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Roswell Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Roswell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-90 p.m. Wednesday at Lienkaemper Chapel, Nyssa.
