Dr. William B. Aten, 79, formerly of Binghamton, died suddenly Monday at his home, 72 Twin Shores Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kathryn Johns Aten, Sarasota; a daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Irene) Blausser, Phoenix,Arlz. a son, Harry R. Aten, Endicott; two grandchildren, William Richard Aten and Barry Alan Aten, both of Endicott. He was the chief medical examiner for the Security Mutual Life Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1953. He was a former chief of staff at Binghamton City Hospital (now General Hospital), and was active in establishing heart clinics at local hospitals. He was a member of the Binghamton Club and of the Binghamton Country Club and a former club champion. The body will be brought to the McDevitt Brothers Funeral Home, 88-90 Front St. where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. with the Rev. George Entwisle, pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Endicott officiating funeral will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Heart Fund.
