Alfred Roninger was born in Alsace-Lorraine, France, in about 1858, to Xavier and Catherine (Pohlman) Roninger, who were both born in France. He married Margaret Brennan on May 15, 1881. The witnesses to their wedding were Michael McDonnell and Sara Brennan, and was officiated by the Reverend P. J. O'Donnell at St. John's Catholic Church in Orange, New Jersey. During his lifetime, he was a carpenter.

Alfred was the father of four children: Florence A. (born 1882), Francis Xavier (born 1884), Louise Marie (born 1886), and Alfred Edmund (born 1888).
In 1895, Alfred Roninger was residing with his wife, Margaret, and children, Florence, Francis, Louisa, and Alfred, in West Orange, Essex County. [New Jersey State Census]
He died on March 27, 1897, in West Orange, New Jersey, at the age of 39. He had been a resident of New Jersey for 18 years.
