George Brixius was born on a farm northwest of Leigh. His birth certificate gives Leigh as his place of birth. He was full blood German on both side's. He made his own beer in the basement of my grandparents home in Creston, Nebraska.
My memory of my grandfather is seeing him sitting beside his radio listening to the baseball games. He was quiet and hard working. He worked many different jobs, in Creston he worked with his sister`s husband as a carpenter, then they moved to Genoa and he worked in the prison teaching carpentry. He also worked in a factory in Beatrice, and after moving to Missouri he became a farmer and spent the rest of his life farming.
