Barbara was born in 1879 this can be proven by family information and by the 1880 census and the 1885 state census. I was also told that the two girls picked the day of the month that they wanted for their birthday. Rose picked the 4th of July and Barbara picked Christmas day. No one knows the actual day of the month they were born. Barbara married Gustave Schmitt on Dec.31,1896. At least this is the record that we have. To this union were added eight children; Helena 1897, Hulric 1899, Gustave 1900, Albert 1903, Leo 1905, Fred 1907, Jerome 1909, Lillian 1911.
