Funeral rites were to be held at Columbus Tuesday afternoon for Orion A Carter, 72, lifelong resident of Bartholomew county and descendant of a prominent pioneer family. Mr Carter died Saturday night at his home on R R 1, Hartsville.
Mr Carter was a descendant of Arthur Carter, who was the first white child born in Hawcreek township, Bartholomew county, and who became a prominent pioneer preacher.
The immediate survivors are his widow and an uncle, Rev E Brown, of Warren, Indiana.

For many years, Orion was the sexton of Little Sandcreek Baptist Cemetery on Talkington Rd on the Clifty Township & Rockcreek Township Line.
