James A. Beavin, 79, a retired farmer of the McQuady Community, died October 24 [1966] at the Breckinridge County Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Henry Bolster October 27 at St. Mary of the Woods Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Terrin, Phillip Beavin, Frank Bowlds, James, Harold & William Bland. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Beavin of McQuady are two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Bland of Louisville and Miss Margaret Beavin of McQuady; a son, Adrian Beavin of McQuady; and a sister, Mrs. Nealie Mattingly of Mattingly. Another son, Gilbert, died in 1952. A life long Democrat and Kentucky Colonel, he was affiliated with the Catholic Church. Dowell Funeral Home of Hardinsburg was in charge.
