Ruth Steele, 84, of San Angelo died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, in a local hospital.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Dr. Jerold McBride, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Ruth was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Arp, Texas, to W. Ezekiel Wilson and Linnie (Cooper) Wilson. She married Merl R. Steele on March 19, 1961,
in San Angelo. Mrs. Steele had one time been an employee of GTE.
Later, she assisted her husband, Merl, with the plans and interior decoration of Johnson's Funeral Home when the new building was
constructed in 1966, and she organized the move for the interior when it was completed in 1967.
Survivors include her husband, Merl R. Steele of San Angelo; one sister and brother-in-law, La Verne and Bob Simon of Houston; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be the staff of Johnson's Funeral Home.
