Obituary: Melva Wyatt Flack, 85, died at the Bridge of Alamosa, Colo. on May 7, 2010. Melva was born on July 3, 1924 in Sanford, Colo. to Robert and Grace (Rogers) Crowther, who precede her in death. She married Okie C. Wyatt Feb. 3, 1945 in Denver. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Okie died Feb. 16, 1976 after battling lung cancer for several months. She married James Flack April 1980 in Sanford and they moved to Jim's home in Kirtland, N.M. Jim died on Dec. 20, 2002. After his death, Melva moved back to Sanford and lived there until moving to the Bridge in January 2009.

Melva graduated from Sanford High School in 1943. She then moved to Leadville and worked at Camp Hale. While working at Camp Hale she met Okie. After they moved to Sanford she worked at the Campbell Ranch in Sanford, and later as a bookkeeper at the Alamosa Community Hospital in Alamosa. She retired from the hospital in 1980, after more than 20 years of service.

Melva was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many positions in the Relief Society and Young Women's. Melva was a kind, caring and loving person. She loved her family and friends very much. She enjoyed bowling, painting, traveling and being with the family.

Besides her parents, Melva was preceded in death by her sisters, Effie Gustin and Afton Schiebe, brothers, Clyde Crowther, Paul Crowther, and Willis Crowther, and by Jims' sons, Roy Flack and Mark Flack.

Melva is survived by her daughter Sherry (Jack) Signs, Sanford and Jim's children William (Connie) Flack, Alan (Janie) Flack, Colleen (Derek) Wethington, Kathryn (Huck Morris) Flack, Wanda Flack, as well as by 25 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, her brother Wayne Crowther of Alamosa, sister, Betty June Corbridge of Phoenix, sister-in-law, Alma Crowther of Sanford and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Mon., May 10,2010 at 11 a.m. at the Sanford Second Ward LDS Chapel, Main St., Sanford. Viewings will be held on Sunday at the Rogers Family Mortuary, from 6 until 8 p.m. in Manassa, and Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Sanford Second Ward Relief Society room. Interment will be at the Sanford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sanford Second Ward Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, through Rogers Family Mortuary who are in charge of arrangements.
