Funeral services for Mr. Verley O' Ray Floyd, 93, of Olla, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday May 11, 2010 from the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Johnnie Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Nolley Memorial Cemetery in Jena. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service at the funeral home.

Mr. Floyd was born April 8, 1917 to Dr. W.H. and Mary Lou Clark Floyd in Walters, and he passed from this life May 8, 2010 at Woods Haven Sr. Citizens Home in Pollock.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olla. He owned Floyd's Five and Dime store in Olla for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons Thirty Second Degree KCCH Scottish Rite of the Valley of Monroe. He was also a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Dr. William Harrison Leckie and Mary Lou Clark Floyd; brothers: Dr. William Murl Floyd and Arthur Floyd; stepson: Henry Arthur Miller;

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Mrs. Beatrice Leckie Floyd; daughter: Radean Williamson and her husband Bill of Pollock; son: Michael Ray Floyd of Fort Bragg, California; step daughter in law: Mrs. Doris Miller; sister in law: Mrs. Deana Williams of Fayettville, North Carolina; niece: Denelle; nephew: Larry; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Masons.
