It seems there were two companions with him, who narrowly escaped the same fate. The boys were trying to learn to swim, but uncautiously ventured too far beyond their depth. His death is a sad blow to his parents and young companions, by whom he was much beloved.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Fairmont, May 22, by Rev. George M. Jones. Interment in Fairmont Cemetery.
