John Clayton Cridlebaugh was the son of Michael Cridlebaugh and Sarah Jane Hedgecock. He married Lucy Ellen Boyer on July 7, 1901. They had 12 children, though 3 died in childhood. He and Lucy divorced. He later married Maud Bell Cross. He was a farmer in his early years, and he and Ella homesteaded in North Dakota, where my grandfather, Philip Earl, was born, as well as his brother, Michael Clare. They eventually moved back to Iowa, then to Missouri, and back to Iowa. He was a farmer in 1910 in Emmons Co., N.D. He was a coal miner in 1920 in Center Township, Appanoose Co., Iowa. He and the family (all but Boyer, Clay, and Phil) lived in Winnebago Co., Illinois in 1930. This was likely Rockford. He may have worked in Sacramento in the railroad industry in his later years.
