Ruth Taylor Mims, age 88, of Okeechobee passed away April 6, 2010 in Okeechobee. She was born December 8, 1921 in Montgomery County, Georgia to the late Wiley and Mettie Taylor. She moved from Montgomery County, Georgia at an early age to Moultrie, Georgia until relocating to Okeechobee in 1961.

A devoted and loving mother, sister and aunt, Mrs. Mims was affiliated with Kentucky Fried Chicken for twenty years with eight years as Manager. She served as a Staff Assistant at Mims Veterinary Hospital for ten years; a Pink Lady at Raulerson Hospital for twenty-five years; and a loyal member of Grace Brethren Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Paul G. Mims, Jr. and Dr. Randall Mims and wife, Renee; two grandsons, Brad and Wesley Mims, all of Okeechobee; three sisters, Jackie Flowers and husband, Enos, Molly Jordan all of Moultrie, Georgia and Martha Chitty and husband, Lowell of Satsuma, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Mims; daughter-in-law, Laurlene Mims; brothers, Duncan, James and DeWitt "J.D." Taylor; and sister, Lucy Deen.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Entombment will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at Evergreen Cemetery.
