Mary was one of thirteen children born to Frederick and Christine (Evers) Schalong and grew up on a farm in Rich Township, Cook Co., Illinois. At the time of her death, from a cerebral hemorrhage at St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, she had been living at 518 Mulberry in Momence. Funeral services were held at the Momence Methodist Church with the Rev. W. L. Klopfenstein of the First Baptist Church officiating.
