IRENE McMASTERS, of Bolivar, MO., formerly of Greenfield, Mo., departed this life on Sunday, April 25, 2010, in Parkview Healthcare in Bolivar at the age of 92 years. She was born in Dade County, Mo. on November 14, 1917, to Frank and Madge (Carmack) Sawyer. Irene grew up in Wichita, Kan., and Greeley, Colo. She lived in Denver, Colo in her young adult life, and later moved to a small farm west of Fair Play. Mo., in 1951; there she raised her three daughters, Irene owned and operated a beauty shop in Fair Play till her marriage to Benton McMasters in September of 1967. She and Benton lived in Greenfield, Mo., till Benton's death. Irene was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, where she and Benton were greeters.

She was also a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Eastern Star, Irene then moved to Bolivar in 2000 to be closer to her daughter.

Those that preceded her in death were her parents, Frank and Madge Sawyer; her husbands, Byron Peacock and Benton McMasters; one grandson, Clyde Montgomery; and two grandchildren, Sammy Montgomery and Emma Bireley. Also preceding her in death were two sons-in-law, Mike Broz and John Mitchell; three step sons-in-law, Mason Freedle, Glen Myers, and Russell Decker; and one step granddaughter, Karla Shaffer.

Irene is survived by her three daughters, Donna Montgomery and her husband George of Raymore, Mo., Jo Ann Mitchell of Bolivar, Mo., and Judy Broz of Ft. Wayne, Ind., eleven grandchildren, April Fleener, George Allen Montgomery, Gary Mitchell, Mary Mitchell, Alanna Lyons, Victor Broz, Ginna Broz, Eugene Broz, Michelle Bireley, Roger Bireley, and Tia Broz; two step daughters, Kay Decker of Arcola, Mo., and Helen Meyers of Springfield, Mo.; twelve great grandchildren; twelve step grandchildren; and ten step great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in Greenfield Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harold McMasters officiating.

Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Memorialcontributions may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church.

Services are under the care of the Greenfield Funeral Chapel
