Born and raised near Bland, Missouri in Gasgonade County, son of John Henry Wehmeyer (1848-1926) and Annie Marie Bixton Wehmeyer (1854-1940). "Willie" moved to Benton County, south of Cole Camp, Missouri during WWI to work for Gerd Muller raising Mules for the war effort. There he met a young orphan being raised by the Mullers, Martha Francis Sebree. They married in 1914 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cole Camp.

Ten children were born to Willie and "Fannie":

Fannie died a young death in 1943, due to a heart conplication. He later married a woman named Nadine Dillon. Willie was a farmer most of his life, though in his later years worked for a lumber company in Sedalia. He was killed in a tragic auto accident south of Sedalia on highway 65.
