Virginia Maxine Jimerson was the daughter of John Parvin Jimerson and Anna Ruhama Overcast Jimerson. She was born and died in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. Virginia Maxine married James Woodrow White in 1935 and was divorced in 1939. There was one daughter from this marriage with two grand daughters. She was visiting her daughter in Arizona when she learned of her impeding death. She chose to return to her home of Independence of over 50 years and died 3 days after returning to Independence. She died at the Independence Sanitarium Hospital. Funeral services were at George Carson & Sons Funeral home, Independence, MO.
Virginia Maxine was a star basketball player at Puryear H.S. in Henry County TN. This is surprising related to her being a petite dark hair, dark eyed beauty weighing less than 90 lbs at the time. Many of her fellow class mates spoke of her ability as a player to her daughter. Virginia favored her gggrand mother Cherokee Laoise Martin Lankford in her coloring. She was known as Maxine in Tennesee where she spent most of her younger years, but was Virginia to all in the Independence, MO area which was her place of birth and her home for over 27 years.
