John Parvin Jimerson was born and died in Henry Co TN. Parvin was the son of Mary Polk Alexander and Jefferson Davis Jimerson, CSA veteran who survived the infamous Shiloh battle. Mary Alexander was a widow with one small son when she married Jeff who was twice widowed with six children. When they married his children from his first marriage were adults and had left home leaving two children, Willie Agatha 5 and Jeffey James 4 from his second marriage. With Willie, James and Mary's son Warner 5 she had three young children under 6 years old at the beginning of her marriage to Jeff. Within a year Mary and Jeff had a daughter Maud, then 4 boys were born about 2 years apart. Parvin thought of all his siblings as "just" brothers and sisters. His grandchildren were unaware of "half sibling" distinction until while researching documents.

When John Parvin was about 5 his father died, leaving Mary with Jeffey James 19 yrs old, Maud age 15. Two years later Maud and Jeffey had left home leaving Mary, Ernest 10, Charlie 9, Parvin 6, Lynn 5 running the farm. Mary's son Warner left home several years before the death of Jeff. They ran the farm fairly well until Mary died in 1908 when Ernest was 18, Charlie 17, Parvin 15 and Lynn 13. The boys lived without the aid of anyone. One winter they existed only on biscuits and molasses. When Parvin became ill with Tuberculosis his sister Willie Agatha married to Saun Wilson took Parvin home and they nursed him back to health while the other boys scattered into "work for board" in the area. After he recovered, Parvin and Charlie enlisted 28 Aug 1911 as privates in the U S army. They were stationed at Hawaii and then the Presidio of San Francisco where they were honorably discharged 24 Aug 1914.

Parvin returned to Henry Co, finding the love of his life, Anna Ruhama "Hama" Overcast. When they married 22 Sep 1915at Henry Co, Parvin was 21 and Hama 16 and they moved into an old log cabin in the Mill Creek area on land inherited by Hama upon the death of her father in 1901. They had 4 sons and two daughters all born in Puryear area except for daughter Virginia Maxine. Eldest son Robert Russell was born Sep 1916 in the above mentioned log cabin. Russell served in the Army Signal Corps in WWII, retired as a Master Sgt after 20 years and then became an electrician in the Independence, MO area. Russell and his wife had one son and four daughters. Virginia Maxine was born and died Independence, Jackson, MO. In Missouri she was known as "Virginia,' but was always Maxine in Tennessee. Her only child was a daughter with her first husband. She was very active leader in the RLDS church in the Independence area. Son Kenneth Bryan died at Fayette, NC: he was a Navy seaman during WWII. Then he lived with his sister Maxine and her 2nd spouse in Independence for less than a year before enlisting in Airborne – Paratroopers. When he retired after 28 years and several wars he was a Command Sgt Major at Fort Bragg, NC. Kenneth married and adopted his wife's daughter and never had biological children. Daughter Mary Lois died in Independence, MO while living at Oak Grove, MO. Mary Lois and her spouse had one son and three daughters. She had a beautiful voice which she frequently shared with her RLDS church members in Oak Grove, MO. The last child of Hama and Parvin is a son (still living) who with his wife has three daughters.

John Parvin Jimerson, although he was unaware, descends from two soldiers in the Revolutionary War: 1. Matthew Alexander through his mother Mary P Alexander. 2. Longshore Lamb through his father Jefferson Jimerson's grand mother Alsey "Lamb" Ray. John Parvin Jimerson is listed among descendants at the DAR through the documents of his grand daughter who wrote this obituary.
