He never cared for the name "Emmett". So most folks called him "Hop" or "Okie"- referring to the time we lived in Oklahoma-.
Daddy worked hard his entire life. His Daddy -Ben- died when he was 3. His Mother -Maudie- gave her 3 boys to other family members to raise after Ben died and she married Yantis.
Daddy was raised by his Grandpa and Grandma Ritchie.
He had to work from the time he was small. He retired at age 72 as a member of Local #312 and Local # 701- Operating Engineers.
