Catherine Semanski, 97, formerly of East Merritt Street, Plains, passed away Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, at the Little Flower Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre.

Born on October 8, 1912, in Lansford, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Rehak Zubeck.

Catherine attended Lansford schools and worked many years at Barre Slipper and Muskin Pools in Wilkes-Barre.

She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Plains, and its Altar and Rosary Society, and a former member of the Plains Senior Citizens Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, on April 4, 1981; her son, Frank (Sam), and grandson, Tom Semanski; sisters, Josephine Reynolds and Helen Vlkovic; brothers, Michael, Steven and John Zubeck.

Surviving are her son, Joseph and his wife, Marilyn, New York; daughter, Betty Jane Dantone and her husband, Michael, Jenkins Township; grandchildren, Joseph, Kevin and Jack Semanski, and Susan Dougherty, New York, Frank Semanski, Hunlock Creek; Helen Semanski, Wilkes-Barre; Kathie Schemery, Stillwater; Dana Seach, Drums; Matthew Dantone, Wilkes-Barre; Lori Dantone, Pittston; daughter-in-law, Margaret Semanski, Wilkes-Barre. Catherine was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren.

Catherine will always be remembered for her love of cooking and gardening and her trips to Atlantic City with the girls.

Catherine's family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to her long time attending Physician, Gerald P. Gibbons, M.D. and to her extended family at Little Flower Manor, where she received excellent care for the last seven years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Plains.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Plains.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are by the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 South Main Street, Plains. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, if desired, can be made to Little Flower Manor, 200 S. Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. Online condolences may be made at www.corcoranfuneralhome.com .
