Margaret Read, 91, of Brooklyn died Sunday night at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison Church of Christ, with Dennis Smith, minister, officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of William C. and Janet Lang Hall, she was born May 17, 1890, in Madison Township. She attended rural school.
She was married to Glen A. Read on Feb. 21, 1917, and the couple farmed in Bear Creek Township until 1955 when they moved to Brooklyn.
Mrs. Read was a member of the Madison Church of Christ, a charter member of the New Idea Club, and a member of the Madison Church Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her husband, Glen, of the Brookhaven Nursing Home, two sons, Gerald Read of Brooklyn and Ronald Read of Malcom; two daughters, Gladys Wulf of Des Moines and Marilyn Montgomery of Brooklyn; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren.
