Harry was the son of Wilbur & Ida Mae (Winchester) Alexander. He married Dorothy Young April 7, 1939 and they had 3 children; Neil, Dee and Janet.

Harry A. Alexander, 79 of Marshalltown and formerly of Peoria, Ariz., and Nevada, died of complications of Alzheimer's Disease on Friday, Nov. 22, at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown.
He was born Dec. 16, 1916 in Nevada, to Wilbur and Ida Mae (Winchester) Alexander. He graduated from Shipley High School in 1937 and attended Iowa barber School in Des Moines.
He married Dorothy Young in Nevada on April 7, 1939, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in Nevada from 1946-1951 and was a barber in Nevada. He was also a barber in Belle Plaine. He did apartment maintenance work in Belle Plaine and in Austin, Texas. He also owned a portrait studio in Belle Plaine. He later worked in electrical maintenance at the American Graduate School in Inernational Management in Glendale, Ariz., and he retired in 1981. His hobbies included painting and fine needlework.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, of Marshalltown; a son Neil, of Cerar Rapids; two daughters, Dee Hoewing, of Glendale, Ariz., and Janet Benesh, of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26, Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. James King of the Nevada United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to teh Alzheimer's Foundation. Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, handled arrangements.
