A lifelong resident of Nevada, Stanley CHIATOVICH was born in Silver Peak on April 11, 1910, the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin CHIATOVICH. He spent his early life at Silver Peak and at the CHIATOVICH ranch in Fish Lake Valley. In 1924 he moved to Tonopah to enter high school and graduated in 1928, he was an outstanding student and stellar athlete.
After leaving school he engaged in mining, returning to the Silver Peak area where he lived most of the time before moving to Gabbs 16 years ago where he became a civic leader in that community. Several years ago he was stricken seriously ill with an ailment that baffled many doctors and the past few years had spent much time in Santa Barbara, Modesto and San Francisco, California receiving medical treatment. He was a patient at the University of California hospital in San Francisco at the time of his death.
He is survived by his widow Mrs. Frances HILL CHIATOVICH of Gabbs, three daughters, Mrs. Janice JOHNSON of Reno, Mrs. Barbara DODGINS of Gabbs, Miss Jackie CHIATOVICH, a senior at Gabbs high school, three grandchildren and three brothers; Jack CHIATOVICH of Peavine ranch, Nye county, Patrick CHIATOVICH of Tonopah and Robert CHIATOVICH of Reno.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at Silver Peak and scores of friends from all parts of Western Nevada were in attendance. Burial was in the family plot at Silver Peak.
