Wright Sanders was the son of Henry Sanders (a Revolutionary War Soldier and Baptist preacher) and Theodocia Blake. Wright died at the age of 43 as the result of an injury.

Following is an excerpt from his will:

"In the name of God Amen.
I Wright Sanders of Monroe County and State of Indiana being of perfect mind and sound memory having received a sore bruise from a log and greatly despairing of my life I find it best whilst I am yet able so to do to make my own arrangements about the concerns of life for the comfort of my family for whom I have every reason to regard and respect."

Wright left behind his wife Mary "Polly" and his children:
