Myrtis Hanshaw Brown Johnson was a native of Ocean Springs, MS and resident of New Orleans since 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson and her parents, Spencer and Mamie Hanshaw, brothers, Alec and Spencer Hanshaw and sister Marguerite Battle. Myrtis Johnson was called home peacefully Saturday, April 24, 2010 in New Orleans, LA at the age of 68.
She was the devoted mother of Rev. Anthony (Shirley) Brown, Sr. and Judge Paula A. Brown; adoring grandmother of Amietris, Tyneequa and Anthony Jr; loving sister of Audrey Arnett of Ocean Springs, Marie (Walter) Cannon of Oxnard, CA, Evangelist Myrtle Middleton of Hattiesburg, MS, Mildred (Tony) Law of Ocean Springs, Mamie Thomas of Jackson, MS, and Maudie Tucker of Detroit, MI.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1702 Weed St. in Ocean Springs. Visitation will be at the church two hours prior to service time. She will be placed to rest with her husband at Biloxi City Cemetery.
