Thomas Logan Warren was born in Buncombe County North Carolina. He 1st married Frances Amanda Shope in 1857 in North Carolina. 2nd marriage was to Marrietta Julie Holt 9-May-1878 in Casey County Kentucky. His 3rd marriage was to Martha A. Helm on 19-Nov.-1882 in Casey County Kentucky. He left Buncombe County North Carolina and moved to Fannin County Georgia and this is where his first 3 children Susanna Amanda, Nancy Jane, and David Benjamin were born. Their other 4 children Julius Franklin, James Logan, Robert G. and Logan L. were all born in Casey County Kentucky. Thomas's father and mother were Benjamin Franklin Warren and Coelia Younger. His grandfather and grandmother were James Warren and Hannah Davis. Thomas's grandfather James is buried in Candler Buncombe County North Carolina and his "Find A Grave" # is 27907471. James's father and mother was Robert Warren and Mary Mitchell. Robert's father and mother was William Warren Jr. and Alice Sears (Seems). William's father and mother was William Warren Sr. and Elizabeth Hackley. William Sr.'s father and mother are John Radcliffe Warren and Rachel Williams. The only info we have on Thomas's father Benjamin is that he lived in Gilmer County Georgia. As of right now we cant find any grave for him. There is a 1860 census record showing him living in that county with Mary Jane who is Thomas sister. I have not found him in any census records after that. There are deeds found in Buncombe Co for a Benjamin Warren dated 1874 and several Warren's have witnessed the deeds, but we don't know if this is him or not. Benjamin did re-marry again to a woman named Elizabeth with an unknown last name and they had 2 children. The 1880 census of Buncombe Co. shows Elizabeth living alone with her 2 children named Cassius Leon and Franklin. The census says that Franklin is 1 month old in May, so Benjamin might have died in 1879 or before April 1880. So with this information we assume he moved back to North Carolina. In the 1870 Casey Co census Thomas is found living in Casey Co. Kentucky with his family and Mary Jane and her new husband Lovett (Lovit) Goodin are living next door to him. Thomas is buried in a unmarked grave behind the Salem Church Cemetery in the old section of the grave yard. On his death certificate it list him as being buried at Salem Cemetery. Its believed that his 1st wife Frances Amanda Shope is also buried next to him also in a unmarked grave. His son James Logan Warren is also buried in the same grave yard with his 1st wife Laura Ellen Lee. James's "Find A Grave" # is 20757830. One of Thomas's sisters Mary Jane Warren Goodin is buried at Aspermont Cemetery in Stonewall County Texas, Find-A-Grave #46198860. His brother Joseph James Warren (27907479) is buried in the same graveyard where their grandfather James Warren is buried in Chandler, Buncombe Co. North Carolina. His sister Susan Malissa "Lissie" Warren (21359558) is buried in Morgan Co. Georgia. Its unknown where his sister Rebecca (Rebecky) Warren (Payne) is buried or where she died. She married Jeptha Payne in Buncombe Co. and this is where they are found in census records. She is the only one who don't have a Find-A-Grave memorial. I had a death certificate sent to me with the name Rebecca Payne and it has her listed as a black woman. Possible?...Maybe but most likely doubtful because all the census records list her as a white female....If anyone wants to share family information please e-mail me at [email protected]. I will do what I can to help you out if I can.
