McMullin:- At her residence in Adel, Iowa, Tuesday, January 23rd, 1883, of consumption. Mrs. Abigail wife of Wm. R. McMullin, aged 22 years, 6 months and 1 day.
The deceased was born near LaPorte, Indiana, July 22, 1860 and from there her parents removed to this State fourteen years ago last fall. She had been a resident of Adel nearly four years during which she had the best of health until about seven months ago though she had been troubled some years before from the measles which affected her lungs. She had apparently entirely recovered however from that and was stout and rugged. Last June she was attacked with consumption, and never saw a well day afterward. She and Mr. McMullin were married the 19th of last February and started in married life with every prospect of spending many years together in happiness and prosperity little dreaming that in less than a year death would separate them. Death is always sad, but especially so when it strikes down the husband or wife at the very beginning of married life, and Mr. McMullin has the sincere sympathy of the entire community. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Christian Church and the remains were laid to rest in the new cemetery north of town.
