Jesse E. Gwynn, 77, Kingwood, died yesterday afternoon in Preston Memorial Hospital at Kingwood.

He was born Feb. 13, 1889, a son of the late Marion & Priscilla Bennett Gwynn; and taught in the Preston and Monongalia County School Systems for 43 years before his retirement.

Mr. Gwynn was a member of the West Virginia and National Education Associations, and a member and deacon emeritus of the Kingwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Shafer Gwynn; three daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Eleanor) Gibson and Mrs. Claude (Mildred) McGee, both of Kingwood; and Mrs. Millard (Betty) White of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Victor and Lawrence Gwynn, both of Fairmont; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Taylor and Mrs. Mary Meredith, also of Fairmont; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood after 4 p.m. today, where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. L. L. Hoptry will officiate, and burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery at Kingwood.
