Martin R. Ashby
CALDWELl—Martin R. Ashby, 51, of Parma, a baker and farmer, died Friday night in a Caldwell hospital.
Mr. Ashby was born Aug. 21, 1910, in Pine, Ore. He moved with his parents to Portland in 1919 and was employed at a bakery in Portland when he was reared. He was married May 23, 1936, in Washington to Marion Brown. The couple moved from Portland to Parma in 1946 and he farmed until he was forced to retire because of ill health in 1960.
He was a member of the Sterry Memorial United Presbyterian Church of Roswell.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Ashby are three sons, Thomas M. of Hanover, N. H, Robert A. of Minot, N. D., and James C. Ashby of Parma; his father, George Ashby of Newbridge, Ore.; his mother, Mrs. Ida Sutherland of Boise, and three sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Poff of Beaverton, Ore., Mrs. Arvelene Reed of Boise and Mrs. Verniece Lawrence of McMinnville, Ore.
Services will be conducted at Sterry Memorial United Presbyterian Church of Roswell at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Rev. Richard Mastbrook and Rev. Dr. Robert C. Shupe will officiate. Interment will be at Roswell under direction of the Peckham- Dakan-Davis Chapel.
