Irvin Layne
Irvin Layne,81, of Route 3, died Saturday morning(March 30,1996) at the residence of Cecil and Patsy Lawson where he had made his home since 1981.
He was born July 10,1914, in Harriston,the son of Herman and Rella Shifflett Layne.
He was a member of Pleasent Hill Church and was retired from construction.
He was preceded in death by his wife,Margaret Nannie Layne, on Dec. 4,1979; and a brother,Bernard Layne.
He is survived by a brother,Ernest Edward Layne of Maryland; two sisters,Pauline Via of Waynesboro and Virginia McCauley of Richmond; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Waynesboro Chapel of Etter-Reynolds Funeral Service by the Rev.Earl Hammer with Burial in Glen Kirk Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Donnie Layne,Alvin Layne,Rex Via,Stanley Via,Bobby Via, Steven Via, Ray Via and friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
