Obituary, October 15, 1967:

Services for Mrs. Nannie Sue Johnson, 83, were today at Moore Cortner Funeral Home [300 First Avenue N.W.] in Winchester.

Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Huntland.

Mrs. Johnson died Sunday at her residence, after several weeks of illness.

She was a Franklin County native and a daughter of the late Jim and Johnnie Sue [Larkin] Motlow [Lem Motlow was proprietor of Jack Daniel's distillery]. She was a member of the Huntland Methodist Church.

Surviving [were] two sons, Rufus Johnson, Elora; and Dudley Johnson, Miami; one brother, Floyd Motlow, Tullahoma; one sister, Mrs. Irene Hatchett, Huntland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Died of complications associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Had 5 children, 3 of which died in infancy. The two that lived were William Rufus and James Dudley, nicknamed Dud. Of the 3 that died, the only name we know of is "Johnnie Sue Johnson" who is apparently buried at Mt. Carmel. However, no one has yet been able to locate her marker.

Married Jasper Clinton Johnson and had 2 children.

Her mother's father, John Henry Larkin: Born 1827 to Henry Larkin and Christianna McLeod Larkin (First married Ann Stovall and had 2 children). Then remarried Mary Hannah and had a child. He passed away 1869 in Lancashire, England.

Mrs. Johnson's maternal grandmother was Mary Hannah, born in 1842. Mary married John Henry Larkin, born in 1827, the only child of Henry Larkin and Christianna McLeod. (John Henry Larkin had previously been married to Ann Stovall and had 2 children with her.) John Henry passed away of unknown causes in Lancashare, England, in 1869. Mary Hannah Larkin later married Mart Mason(?) and had 4 children with him.
