Cyrene Harris Mobley Robbins
Cyrene was the eldest of the ten children in the William Henry Harris and Mary Elizabeth Gross Harris family. Her siblings were Nathan Harris, Mary M. Harris, Rachel Clarice Harris Curry, Martha L. "Susan" Harris McAlpin Werts, John William Harris, Nancy Caroline Harris Vandevener, David C. Harris, Pleasant Monroe Harris, and Demsey S. Harris.
Cyrene's first marriage was on 2-22-1855 in Franklin, Johnson Co., IN to James Calvin Mobley (b 9-3-1833 Jefferson Co., IN d 9-27-1864 Centralia, MO). James enrolled 9-23-1862 serving as a corporal in the First Regiment of Missouri Volunteer Engineers 3rd Battallion; he died in the service of the United States in the State of Missouri on 9-27-1864. Children from this first marriage were Mary Elizabeth "Aunt Lib" Mobley Foster, Martha Angeline "Mattie" Mobley Elliott, William Calvin Mobley, Sylvester Dunlap Mobley, & George Washington Mobley.

Cyrene's second marriage was on 9-12-1865 in Hawlesville, Page Co., IA to William Robbins (b 7-25-1807 Herkimer Co., NY d 7-16-1882 Elk City, Montgomery Co., KS). William was once sheriff of Page Co., IA. Cyrene married William when her youngest child, Elizabeth Mobley, was a very small baby. In 1865 William was the wagon master of a wagon train going to KS; Cyrene and William settled first in Wilson Co., KS in the settlement of Coyville. Children from this second marriage were Charley Coy Robbins, Oscar Coy Robbins, and Ostie Coy Robbins. Charley and his sister Ostie died young and were buried near their mother on the old Robbins farm outside of Elk City.
The 1870 Census for Lewisburg Township, Montgomery County, Kansas listed Cyrene in the William Robbins household as "Sarah J."; her children by James Mobley were listed using the surname of Robbins.
Cyrene was buried in a private cemetery located on the "old Robbins farm" outside of Elk City, KS. A family member reported that in 1975 it was a "decayed and unkept, curbed plot in the middle of a field behind the house and buildings." Another family member stated that Cyrene and "the two children" are buried near each other.
According to TRW, memorial creator, Cyrene was not listed in the cemetery transcription book. A Carson Cemetery list of March 16, 1969 updated June 7, 2005 by H. N. James and N. J. Foster c/o cdm noted that there were "several unmarked graves on the Robbins plot".
