Theron "Teddy" Benjamin Samber, affectionately known as Teddy, was born on August 5, 1922 to the late William and Mabel Samber, in Key West
FL, where he attended public school and became a member of Mother A. M.E. Zion Church. It was there that he accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior.
On Sepember 25, 1949 he married Flora Rice and settled in Hackensack, NJ. He was a devoted and loving husband of 51 years. Out of this marriage came two wonderful daughters, Renee and Sheron who he adored. Teddy was the father of fathers and husband of husbands. He loved his family deeply and gave 100% of himself all the time. His love extended to his many nieces and nephews.
Teddy was a hardworking and active man all of his life, as well a a businessman. He worked at State TV as a TV serviceman for over 20 years until he retired in 1985. He had two TV repair shops to further serve the community. He was a Retiree, an organization of retired people in Bergen
County. As the Historian and member of the American Legion Post #58, in Englewood, NJ. He worked with students in the Hackensack Public School
In the Intergenerational Program at the Martin Luther King Jr Senior Center.
He was dedicated to Varick A. M. E. Zion Church. He was President of the Cathedral Choir for 25 years, on the Stewart Board, a Class Leader, Sunday School teacher of the adult class, involved in the Culinary Arts Ministry and the Transportation Committee.
During WW II he served his country as a soldier in the US Army. His tour of duty overseas included assignments in China, India and Burma.
