Laura Effie Travis, 96, 515 E. North Ave., Olney, died Tuesday in Richland Memorial Hospital.

Services were held Friday in the Elm Street Christian Church with Rev. Keith Sproat presiding. Visitation Thursday in the Summers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Travis was born in Richland County, the daughter of James and Francis Viola (Adams) Colvin. She married John David Travis Nov. 11, 1908 and he preceded her in death March 27, 1949.

She was a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney. She formerly operated a cafe in Olney and Clay City.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Thelma and Wayne Appelby of Arthur; Effie C. Jahncke of San Diego, California; and Francis Iaun of Olney; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Travis of Denver Colorado; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, John Travis; a grandson; a great-grandson; a sister, Mrs. Mae Gardner; and three brothers, Arthur, Luther, and Orlando Colvin.
