Mr. Travis was born in Olney on March 7, 1917.
He attended Olney schools, and worked for the Olney Daily Mail, Commercial Telephone Co., and Dr. Jordon's Dental Office. He also served in the quarter master corps of the Army during World War II. Mr. Travis served as vice-president and treasurer of Chapin Lumber Co. until it was sold in 1961. He and his wife, Elsie, purchased the Employment Service and operated it until 1973.
Mr. Travis was active in the Denver Chamber of Commerce, American Management Society, the Retail Lumberman's Assoc., National and Colorado Employment Assoc. He was also a member of the Park Hill Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the Olney Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Brimacomb); two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Pamela J.) Stark, Sacremento, Ca., and Mrs. Richard (Joan) Kelley, Portland, Oregon; his mother, Laura Travis, Olney; three sisters, Francis Iaun, Olney, Effie Jahncke, San Diego, Ca., and Thelma Appleby, Arthur; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John, in 1949.
