Jane married the Civil War veteran James on March 11, 1867 in Fayetteville, Franklin Co, PA. This union produced nine children - John David, Mary Catherine, Joseph Henderson, Mertle Lousetta (dy), James William, Charles Rush, Abigail Jane, Ethel Alma, & Kimber Agustus. Abigail was the first child born in Nebraska (1880)
Purportedly her funeral was attended by a large number of women honoring her efforts as a "nurse" to soldiers during and after the Civil War (although she would have been just 12 years old at the beginning of the war).
