Spurlin Childress obituary - 1955

Spurlin Childress , formerly of Providence, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at his home in Princeton following a long illness.
Surviving are the wife, Lena; four sons, Gerald of Cynthiana, Ind., Carlyn, near Princeton, Curtis of Belleville, Mich., and Clarence, Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Guestle Coffman of Belleville, Mich., Mrs. Bob Globke and Miss Vivian Childress of Detroit; two brothers, Rich Childress of Providence and E.H. Childress of Princeton; seven sisters, Mrs. R.L. Erwin, Mrs. R.M. Traylor, and Mrs. Garland Traylor of Providence, Mrs. Oscar Mitchell and Mrs. Lawrence Holmes of Princeton, Mrs. Byrd Guess of Fredonia, and Mrs. R.P. Whittington of Kuttawa, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. H.G.M. Hatler, pastor of Princeton First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Big Hill cemetery, Providence.**
