Wayne E. Souders, 64, of Fort Collins, died June 3, 1996, in Fort Collins.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1400 Lynnwood Drive in Fort Collins, with Ron Williams officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the VFW
Mr. Souders was born Dec. 28, 1931 to Frank and Nettie (Christner) Souders in Sterling. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1950 and also attended Colorado State University. He married Mimi Sue Glassey on Sept. 24, 1960, in Glenwood Springs. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He worked at a line crew chief for the city of Fort Collins from 1961 until he retired in 1991.
Mr. Souders was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, first ward. He did volunteer work for the Family History Center and was active in the Republican Party as a precinct chairman, a delegate to the Larimer County and state of Colorado conventions, and served as an election judge. He enjoyed genealogy, traveling, making desserts, remodeling and building.
He is survived by his wife Mimi of Fort Collins; three sons, Daniel of Orem, Utah, Timothy of Okinawa, Japan, and Joel of Provo, Utah; a daughter, Julia Ann Souders of San Jose, Calif.; four brothers, Lloyd and Cecil, both of Sterling, and Raymond and Dale of Fort Collins; and four grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Williams; and a brother, Marvin.
