Laura was the eldest child of John William Craiglow, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Burton. Laura and her two brothers dropped the "a" from Craiglow and used Criglow. Their other sister did not. There were many lively discussions around the dinner table about the spelling of the name.
Laura was only 19 when she married the twice widowed William Seaborn "Seab" Ray, who was 44. She assumed motherhood with this marriage, for Seab had four children still living at home.
Ten years after Seab's death, Laura married Sidney T. Roberts.

Mrs. Laura Criglow Roberts, age 81, of 408 Cross Street, widow of Sid Roberts, died Sunday at her home. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church.
