She was born July 28, 1917, in Baker, the daughter of Oscar and Ella (Kohler) Hill. She married Thomas B. Smith on July 18, 1936. Doris was a member of Earlville United Methodist Church. Before retiring, she worked at the National Bank of Earlville for more than 25 years. Doris' whole world revolved around her love for her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Marlys (James) Goodin of Rockford; three grandchildren, Laura Goodin of Rockford, Amy (Aaron) Eissens of Oswego and Sarah (Keith) Krieg of Rockford; four great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Olivia Krieg and Jacob and Emily Eissens; five sisters, Barbara Brown, Betty Kambic, June Sharp, Greta Sinchak and Georgia Philippe; two brothers, John and Donald Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas in 1985; one sister, Virginia Meyers; one brother, Russell Hill; and one infant sister, Marion Louise.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Earlville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cheri Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow in Precinct Cemetery Mausoleum rural Earlville. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service Thursday.
