June was born June 15, 1932, in Earlville, to Ella and John Hill, and graduated from Earlville High School in 1950. She worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Drs. Dettore, Carter and Chung in the Earlville Medical Clinic. Later, she worked as a clerk at the LaSalle County Circuit Clerks Office in Ottawa, IL. She retired in 1998.
Throughout her life June was active in her church and community. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, sang in the choir and served as the church secretary. She especially enjoyed attending Earlville High School sporting events, concerts, and theatrical shows. June had quite the green thumb which she acquired from her mother. She loved both indoor and outdoor plants and gardening. She had many lifelong friends from the community and wonderful neighbors who looked in on and cared for her in her senior years. In addition to gardening, she enjoyed baking, singing, playing cards, and sewing. She loved preparing holiday meals with her mother and sisters. She was very handy with a paint brush and tools and did much of the restoration work on her homes. She was independent, strong-willed, and self-sufficient. Dining out and sharing a meal and conversation with friends was always a favorite activity.
June grew up in Earlville on the family farm that was homesteaded by her grandfather Solon. She was one of eleven brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and John Hill, her sisters, Barbara Alice Brown of Fairfax, VA, Betty Jean Kambic of Joliet, IL, Marion Louise (infant) of Earlville, half-sisters Virginia Meyers of Joliet, IL and Doris Smith of Earlville, brothers John Howard Hill of Livermore, CA and Donald Wayne Hill of Earlville, a half-brother Russell Hill of Leland and the father of her children James M Sharp of Nashville, TN.
June was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, James (Jay) Marion Sharp of Fulton, MS and Janet Sue Sharp of Tampa, FL. She is survived by Janet and Jay, her sisters Greta Sinchak of Joliet, IL and Georgia Philippe of Malden, IL, her sister-in-law Ginger Hill of Livermore, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express its deepest and heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers Cheryl Johnson and Lorraine Kolt, as well as her doctors, nurses, and loving friends and neighbors.
